Project Background

The customer is a local wine-making enterprise seeking to resolve impurity filtration issues during wine production, ensuring clarity and flavor stability to meet local market quality standards. Previously, the customer had used a multi-layer plate and frame filter, but faced multiple operational challenges.

 

Customer Pain Points

Low Filtration Efficiency & Frequent Clogging: The multi-layer filter’s structure poorly adapted to viscous wine impurities such as pectin and pulp residues, leading to frequent pore blockages. This required repeated shutdowns for cleaning and disrupted production continuity.

Substandard Filtration Quality: Single-stage filtration could not effectively separate impurities of varying particle sizes, resulting in visible sediments in bottled wine — below the customer’s “no visible impurities” standard.

Hidden High Maintenance Costs: Frequent clogging led to higher filter cloth replacement and labor costs, causing long-term maintenance expenses to exceed expectations.

 

Technical Solution

After analyzing the wine’s impurity characteristics (crushed pulp, pectin, yeast residues) and filtration requirements, our technical team designed a three-stage series filtration system featuring:

First-Stage Preliminary Filtration: Retains large impurities such as pulp and stems, preventing clogging in later stages.

Second-Stage Precision Filtration: Targets fine and viscous impurities like pectin and yeast. By optimizing the filter medium, it effectively removes turbidity-causing particles without affecting the wine’s natural flavor.

Third-Stage Protective Filtration: Uses a triple-layer filter element to ensure complete clarity and eliminate residual microorganisms, improving shelf-life stability.

 

Customer Feedback

Since implementation, the customer reported:

Significant improvement in filtration efficiency, meeting daily production targets;

Up-to-standard wine clarity, with no visible sediments in bottled products;

Reduced maintenance costs due to less frequent cleaning and filter replacement.

The customer affirmed that the customized three-stage filtration system effectively resolved their core filtration challenges, achieving both higher quality and more stable production.
